We have just returned from another successful trip to Ecuador’s Islas Encantadas—the Enchanted Islands. Home to a multitude of unique species found nowhere else on Earth, and the birthplace of our modern understanding of natural selection, these remarkable islands offer endless opportunities for photographers. With little to no fear of humans, the wildlife made perfect subjects for our cameras. Beyond the fauna, the dramatic volcanic landscapes provided abundant inspiration for those looking to tell a broader visual story of the journey.
Throughout our adventure, we were exceptionally well cared for by the experienced and professional crew of the luxury catamaran Tip Top II. They handled both guests and our precious camera equipment with great care during every landing and excursion. We were treated to a delicious variety of meals, and our cabins were kept immaculate throughout the voyage.
We were also fortunate to be guided by Ecuadorian naturalist and photographer Peter Friere. His commitment to photography ensured we were out at first light each morning and able to stay afield until the last light faded each evening. With more than 30 years of experience guiding in the islands, Peter is a wealth of knowledge, helping us return home with a deeper understanding of the archipelago, its history, and the ecology of its endemic wildlife.
As a company dedicated to capturing the world through the lens, we felt this year’s trip report would be best told visually. So, for a more complete picture (no pun intended) of our tour, follow the link below and enjoy the video of our journey.
